November was a winter month in the Northern Hemisphere on Earth.
It was an especially pivotal month of turning points for Earth's history in 1963. It marked the moment when The Beatles first rose to major popularity as a music group (AUDIO: 1963: Fanfare for the Common Men), saw the Soviet space program send a manned capsule into orbit around the Moon (AUDIO: 1963: The Space Race) and witnessed the tragic assassination of John F. Kennedy. (AUDIO: The Assassination Games)
Behind the scenes
The in-universe significance of November 1963 is due to the many homages to the date of Doctor Who's television premiere, 23 November of that year.
