Piers Gavenal was a member of the Vacuum Church. After Piers made peace with the mortal world and accepted that there was nothing beyond death but darkness, Brother Phaedrus killed him, giving Piers' empty vessel to the Hoothi consciousness. (PROSE: Love and War, AUDIO: Love and War)
