Herbert Hoover was the thirty-first President of the United States. His term began in 1929. On his watch, the Great Depression set in. Millions of Americans became homeless. Many took up temporary residence in shanty towns called "Hoovervilles", named after the president many blamed for the economic downturn. (TV: Daleks in Manhattan)
