Renad was a warrior. He didn't like the federation machinery that he had to use in his line of work. He saw Bernice Summerfield crash and thought that Arko and Forno were beasts and wanted to eat them. He was jealous of Hoodath who could read and write. He was extremley xenophobic and wanted to destroy the aliens on his planet to appease the gods. He took over control of his country after the Thane of Mahel was killed.
