The Thane of Mahel was ruler of all the land from Shadow Coast to the Fungus Mountains, Third Chieftain of all Venedel. He wished that there was only stars in the sky rather then the Earthlink Federation blockade ships. He didn't care that Bernice Summerfield was an archaeologist and had her locked up. He caused human rights atrocities — this was in the form of burning the dead and the alive of those infected by Ilijah to stop them spreading. He was killed by Ilijah. His actual name is not known. He is often referred to as Thane, Thane of Mahel or simply Mahel, which could all be official names for him.
