According to the Eleventh Doctor, a manse was a "posh vicarage". As he once told Rory Williams, they were "all the rage in villages in the England of the 1930s". He also found it odd that the village of Shalford Heights had a manse but that the community hadn't rebuilt its accompanying church years after a fire destroyed it. (PROSE: The Glamour Chase)
