The Ashla shock-troops were posthuman cyborg soldiers created and designed by the Silversmith's Coterie. They had bulky silver armour which was elegantly decorated. Spiny crests ran down their backs. Their heads were flattened, with the brains relocated elsewhere.

The Rivera Manuscript described soldiers resembling Ashla shock-troops attacking a Homeworld at the start of the War, but there was no instance in documented posthuman history where shock-troops could have done this. (PROSE: The Book of the War) The manuscript's narrator described them as

Hominid/cybernetic fused into bulky metal armour. The metal is silvery and the humanoid shape is broken by the spiny crests running down the back. Possibly exoskeletons? Power-suits? Their heads are flattened. They may have been descended from humanity, in which case their brains have been relocated somewhere less vulnerable. Their bodies are [word smudged out] and mutable. The design is elegantly decorated. I don't think I've faced such a beautiful enemy, or such a dangerous one.The Rivera Manuscript renegade [The Book of the War (novel) [src]]
