The Beauftragter was a Spiderweiss from der spinne who commissioned Izzy Ring to investigate Caroline. After the investigation, the Beauftragter brought her team of assistants and lackeys, including Kessler, on the train to clean up Caroline's body. She asked Izzy to join der spinne, but Izzy declined, stating she was no longer an Intermediant. (PROSE: A Star's View of Caroline)

- "Beauftragter" is German for "male representative".
- The Beauftragter first appeared as Leutnant Johanna Adell in author Sarah Hadley's short story Man of Smoke and Dust from the 2001 charity anthology Walking in Eternity. There, she was a member of the Viennese bureau of Spiderweiss, and she investigated the Doctor's activities in Vienna when he was spending time there selling drugs to combat a Invader virus.
