Drug
A drug was a general term for a form of medicine. Drugs could have many beneficial uses: they could be used to cure, treat and sedate. (TV: The Daleks, The Edge of Destruction, The Daleks' Master Plan) They could also be used recreationally, like LSD, and were often addictive, like hashish, cocaine, and vraxoin. (PROSE: Damaged Goods, Dead Romance, Wonderland, TV: Marco Polo, Nightmare of Eden) A subsection of these recreational and often religious drugs were hallucinogenic drugs. Drugs could be ingested orally, (TV: Dead of Night) by injection, (TV: Children of Earth: Day Five, Rendition, PROSE: The Quantum Archangel) consumed by "snorting", (PROSE: Christmas on a Rational Planet) or by applying chemical patches to the skin. (TV: Gridlock)
Aside from medical or recreational uses, relaxant drugs could be used as the closest one could ever get to a "truth drug" — they could break down some mental barriers and make people say things they normally wouldn't. (PROSE: Just War) Drugs could also be used to assist transformation (i.e. into Cybermen) and mutation (i.e. into Daleks). (TV: Attack of the Cybermen, AUDIO: The Time of the Daleks)
