Alan Bush was the father of Melanie Bush.

Biography

Alan grew up in Small Marshes near Hastings, next-door to Bob Lines, whom he befriended at school. He went to Durham University with Christine, whom he married, and became a wealthy accountant and prolific golf player.

The Bushes did not have children until they were in their late thirties. According to one account, they had only one daughter, named Melanie. (PROSE: Business Unusual) According to another, they had an elder daughter named Anabel who died after falling down the stairs when she was three in an accident caused by Mel. After her death, the Bushes moved from Croxdale to Pease Pottage. (PROSE: Spiral Scratch)

When the Sixth Doctor visited the Bushes to begin his adventures with Mel, Alan helped him investigate and thwart SenéNet. (PROSE: Business Unusual) He was apparently on a cruise with Christine when the Sixth Doctor brought Mel back after his trial, in the pocket of cauterised time created by "Stapleton Petherbridge".
