History of Doctor Who
- Botanist George Cranleigh is reported killed by hostile Indians while on an expedition on the Amazon River. He has in fact been mutilated and had his tongue cut out, but is still alive. Returning to England, he is kept a prisoner by his mother in Cranleigh Hall ("Black Orchid").
- 9 November - The Doctor and Ace arrive in Munich, just as the Munich Putsch is concluding, with Hitler and other members of the Kampfbund being driven away from the War Office by government soldiers. To Ace's surprise, the Doctor tells Hitler he mustn't give up and will one day rule Germany. Hastily explaining that his actions are necessary to insure that Earth history runs its proper course, the Doctor ushers Ace back to the TARDIS, where they are fired upon with an energy weapon, a sign that a non-contemporaneous person is manipulating the past ("Timewyrm: Exodus").
