Biography
Assuming command
Lucius was part of the Ninth Legion when they invaded the area of Aberdeen in the 2nd century. The legion was attacked by a creature known as the Eater of Light. Lucius and a small group of others ran from the beast, while the eldest members of the legion were all killed by total absence of light. At eighteen, he became the oldest surviving member of the legion, and so assumed the commanding role.
The group hid in a cave, while Simon was sent in search of a road south. He never returned. Instead, Lucius encountered Bill Potts who was trying to escape from the Eater of Light. He and his legion pulled her into the cave and blocked up the entrance. Bill collapsed.
Forging an alliance
Two days later, Bill had awoken. She had been lashed by the beast as she entered the cave and had thick black slime on her neck. Lucius advised her to stay in the sunlight, knowing that it would burn off the slime. He became affectionate towards her and promised to look after her.
Bill told the Romans about the Doctor. Lucius accepted Bill's plan of seeking him out. He, Bill and the rest of the legion followed Vitus through the labyrinth of tunnels to the Pictish community. Below the Pict's roundhouse, he witnessed as Cornelius was attacked and killed by the creature. Lucius and the rest of the group escaped up the ladder, where they were immediately surrounded by Picts. The Twelfth Doctor ended the conflict, and the two sides chose to work together.
Battling the beast
Lucius helped to fight the beast back through the Devil's Cairn and announced that he would continue to fight at Kar's side. He commanded the Ninth Legion to advance through the portal to fight alongside them. He took one final look at Bill as he travelled between dimensions. (TV: The Eaters of Light)
