Poorgrass was a general practitioner who came to visit Vastra after his friend Dudley Skelton disappeared. He asked her to investigate the stories around it so that his land could be sold.[statement unclear] He was also a magistrate, part time postmaster and curator of the Lullwind Cove Museum.
