The Oil Wars were a conflict on Earth some time before 2181. It took Earth over fifty years to recover from the conflict. Fuel became so scarce that individuals were rapidly cutting down trees to burn, making deforestation a major problem. Nations imposed penalties on any unauthorised killing of trees. Dusan was sentenced to death by defenestration for cutting down a tree in Prague. (PROSE: Suspension and Disbelief)
