Spice Girls

The Spice Girls were a musicial group. K9 played their music for Sarah Jane Smith when she was staying at Cornflower Cottage. (PROSE: The Sow in Rut)

In 1997, the Spice Girls were among the celebrities observing the Mars 97 mission at the National Space Museum. (PROSE: The Dying Days)

In 1998 the Spice Girls embarked on the Spice Girls '98 tour. The Ninth Doctor once went to pick up a friend who had attended one of the shows. (AUDIO: The Lichyrwick Abomination)

The Eighth Doctor, in an attempt to tell Sam Jones that she looked "cool" in her Victorian clothes, said she'd be the 1890s equivalent of a Spice Girl. Sam decided to take that as a compliment. (PROSE: The Bodysnatchers) Sam later thought that the sound of Daleks trying to sing would be worse than the Spice Girls. (PROSE: War of the Daleks)

Ginger Spice, a member of the Spice Girls, gave the Doctor a sun visor, which he lost during a visit to India in 1947. (PROSE: Ghosts of India)

While pretending to be a newly regenerated incarnation of the Doctor, Jack Harkness claimed that he had "bounced back" from death like the Spice Girls. (AUDIO: Piece of Mind)

Behind the scenes

  • Two members of the group were known as Mel B and Mel C. In the audio story The Wrong Doctors, in the 1980s, the Sixth Doctor met two versions of Melanie Bush and named "Mel A" the older one and "Mel B" the younger one; the younger Mel asked what if another one showed up, would she be "Mel C"; the Doctor stopped this by saying that could not be allowed to happen, because it was the wrong decade. Later, he addressed to Melanie with the title of the Spice Girl song Spice Up Your Life.
