Mr Folgate was a vicar in a church in London, England, for which his wife often sewed hassocks.

The couple favoured their eldest son Gerald over Norton, on account of the latter's homosexuality and his working for Torchwood. (AUDIO: Ghost Mission) Mr Folgate's church survived the Second World War, (AUDIO: The Unbegotten) after which he and his wife moved to a parish in the Cotswolds. (AUDIO: Ghost Mission)

Lizbeth Hayhoe correctly identified Norton as the son of a parson when they first met in 1951, claiming that she could tell from his posture and the way that he crept. (AUDIO: Parasite)
