Series 3 (Doctor Who 2005)
- For the 1965-66 season of the original series, see Season 3.
Series 3 of Doctor Who (sometimes called Season 29) ran between March 2007 and July 2007 and starred David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and introduced Freema Agyeman as his companion Martha Jones. Catherine Tate appeared as Donna Noble in the 2006 Christmas special, The Runaway Bride, which was filmed as part of the Series 3 block and featured on the Series 3 DVD. Despite this, The Runaway Bride is a special episode and not considered to be a part of Series 3 by the Episode Guide on the official website.
Overview
This new series introduced Martha Jones (played by Freema Agyeman), as the Doctor's new companion. This series introduced also a new logo design, which was first shown in Series 3 Episode 1: The Runaway Bride, which starred Catherine Tate as Donna Noble, the Doctor's one off companion for the episode, who was soon to return in Series 4 as a full time comapnion. The logo then continued throughout the rest of Series 3 from Epsiode 2 (Smith and Jones) to Episode 14 (Last of the Timelords), and stretched into Series 4. A new costume was also designed for the Doctor, a blue suit, alongside the brown suit. The main storyline for this series was focused on the "Mr Saxon", an alias for the Master
