The Daleks in Venice.

Whilst traveling in the TARDIS, the Ninth Doctor and Rose Tyler stumbled upon what appeared to be a Dalek invasion at St Mark's Square in Venice, where they encountered Casanova. (Untitled (Casanova))

The appearance of multiple bronze Dalek drones in Venice came as a shock to both the Doctor and Rose. (Untitled (Casanova)) Indeed, this incarnation of the Doctor believed the Dalek species to have been rendered extinct at the end of the Last Great Time War, barring a single survivor who he saw self-destruct in the Van Statten Incident. (TV: Dalek)

The Doctor and Rose would later discover that the Dalek Emperor had survived the war, (TV: Bad Wolf) leading to a confrontation which resulted in the Doctor being forced to regenerate into the Tenth Doctor, who bore a resemblance to Casanova (TV: The Parting of the Ways) which neither Rose nor the Doctor himself remarked upon. (TV: Children in Need Special) Nevertheless, by that point what appeared to be one of Casanova's outfits was kept in the TARDIS wardrobe. Indeed, it was present when the newly regenerated Doctor chose his own attire consisting of a brown coat and suit. (TV: The Christmas Invasion)

As noted by the Eleventh Doctor, Casanova was born in 1725. Whilst in Venice in 1580, the Doctor was relieved to remember the fact as he told Amy Pond and Rory Williams that he didn't want to run into Casanova, as he owed him a chicken in a bet. (TV: The Vampires of Venice) He later claimed to Valarie Lockwood the chicken was repayment for Casanova helping thwart a Sontaran invasion. (AUDIO: The House of Masks)
