John Wisden

John Wisden was a cricketer active in at least 1851. Right after Adric's death, the Fifth Doctor wanted to go to Lord's to see a few overs with him and Pilch in the match on the opening day of the Great Exhibition. (TV: Time-Flight)

Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • Time-Flight does not actually specify his first name, but it's a logical conclusion based on the dialogue. Wisden would later start Wisden Almanack — though this, too, is a fact not revealed in a DWU story. Equally, no Doctor Who story tells the audience he was renowned for his bowling. Thus, the Fifth Doctor would have been particularly interested in the matchup between Wisden's bowling and Pilch's batting.
