Academician Devonire was the first Academician for Game Logic.

After the start of the War in Heaven, Devonire felt that the bickering and disagreements from various groups on the Homeworld should end so they could stand united against the enemy. Using game logic, he successfully negotiated several peace treaties, returning to the Homeworld several bloodlines that had left during the diaspora. However, Faction Paradox refused to negotiate. Misunderstanding the Faction's motivations and believing incorrectly that they held Grandfather Paradox's severed arm in some regard, Devonire sought to find and return it as a peace offering.

He came to believe that the Immaculata Formosii had the arm, and he met her on Kaiwar to obtain it. She demanded his arm in payment, which he refused; he then stole the arm, but when he offered it to the Faction, they replied that they had no use for it as the arm was Devonire's. A biodata examination confirmed their statement.

Devonire became stricken with severe paradox anxiety; he returned to his quarters, cut off his own arm, and threw it off his balcony. Wandering the hallways bleeding, he declared he was Grandfather Paradox. When taken away for treatment, he said it only made sense that the Faction created the Grandfather after the Grandfather created the Faction. He never recovered from this anxiety, and the Great Houses froze him in their prison, partially in fear that he was right. (PROSE: The Book of the War)
