Wind-up toy Daleks were used by the BBC's special effects people to film a Dalek invasion force on the cheap. (NOTVALID: Some BBC Special Effects That Weren't So Special)

All the Dalek toys made in the 1960s came complete with "arms" (eyestalks and manipulator arms) that by 1970 had dematerialised out of existence in a phenomenon dubbed the mysterious demat effect. At a Doctor Who 30 Years Convention, a group of fans had brought their toys to show to each other, only to find that they had all lost the arms for their toys. (NOTVALID: Doctor Who? 205)
