In some animals, eyes sat atop a series of one or more eyestalks which were more free-moving than the eye sockets of many humanoid species such as humans on Gallifreyans. The Venus of 3 billion BC was hotspot for the evolution of eyestalked animals, with the main sapient lifeforms Venusians having their eyes atop stalks, as did many of the other species on the planet, including stickwalkers, ghifghoni and kigfih.
