Russ was a character on the television show Chums.
Whilst filming the show's final episode in 2014, the actor who played him suddenly turned into a frog, as a side-effect of Rose-the-cat trying to create a cat flap in the Doctor's TARDIS. (COMIC: A Rose by Any Other Name)

Russ is a clear parody of the Friends character Ross Geller. Conversely, an earlier instalment in the "Rose-the-cat" saga established that Chums did in fact have a character by the name of Ross.
