Deeva Jansen
Deeva Jansen was the new captain of the Vanguard in 2503 who was secretly an Orion android. She worked for human security forces as part of their plan to recruit the Cybermen to help them in the Orion War. In reality, she was a double agent working to learn about cyber-conversion to help her android comrades in the war.
She ultimately sacrificed herself by giving her helmet to Charley Pollard to save her life, as Charley's helmet was damaged. Jansen was left damaged and floating in space, though the Eighth Doctor noted that it was possible that someone would be able to find and reactivate her at some point in the future. She was picked up by a salvage business owned by Kedge Ampston. After the death of his crew, she set herself up to have influence over her in his new business endeavours. When the Doctor and Charley responded to her distress call, she wanted to keep them alive. She was in charge of processing humans into Androids. It turned out that she had been reprogrammed by a priority control system from Orion, and she tried to resist it, hoping to get into the TARDIS to cancel out the signal. By the time that the Doctor and Charley had arrived it had been too late and all of Garazone had been converted to Androids, but she wanted to be killed to stop the activation. Once the Doctor had deactivated the control signal, she remembered that she hadn't disposed of the bodies but placed them all in suspended animation. The Doctor tried to convince her not to deactivate the Androids and left her and Dakota Bly to decide what to do with both sides. Charley asked them to consider what was the difference between the two species. (AUDIO: Heart of Orion)
