A boxer was a person who practiced or competed in the sport of boxing.

John L. Sullivan was a famous boxer who taught the Doctor the sport some time before his third incarnation. (TV: Carnival of Monsters) Jack Dempsey, another famous boxer, later taught the Doctor fighting stances which he used in Kish. (PROSE: Timewyrm: Genesys)
