Lieutenant Preston was an officer on board Sea Base 4 in 2084. She investigated the Fifth Doctor's TARDIS.
She was shot and killed by Sauvix while trying to help the Doctor kill the Sea Devil. (TV: Warriors of the Deep)

Lynda Bellingham, Sarah Berger, Isla Blair, Suzanne Danielle, Patricia Finnegan, Georgina Hale, Jenny Hanley, Diane Keen, Rula Lenska, Helen Mirren, Susan Penhaligon, Pamela Salem, Susan Skipper, Catherine Schell, Primi Townsend, Wanda Ventham and Fiona Walker were considered for the role before Tara Ward was cast.
