Sympathy

Sympathy, (TV: The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe) which sometimes included feeling pity, (TV: Remembrance of the Daleks[additional sources needed]) was an emotion[source needed]. Though it necessitated understanding, (TV: Planet of Giants) sympathy did not necessarily come with knowledge or intelligence. (TV: The Abominable Snowmen)

Madge Arwell received a telegram telling her that her husband, Reg Arwell, had lost his way at night. The telegram expressed "deepest sympathy". (TV: The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe)
