Solicitor Grey was Royal Commissioner of Prisons during the Jacobite Rising and abused his position to sell captured Jacobites as slaves in Barbados.

Biography

Grey was a solicitor who had a successful legal practice (TV: The Highlanders [+]Loading...["The Highlanders (TV story)"]) at Lincoln's Inn and spent years pleading cases in court, resulting in his voice becoming sharp. (PROSE: The Highlanders [+]Loading...["The Highlanders (novelisation)"]) He left his practice to serve as George III's Commissioner of Prisons, but secretly he planned to use this position to sell captured Jacobites into slavery and employed the help of Trask, who took control of the Annabelle from Willie Mackay to transport the future slaves to Barbados.

On 16 April 1746, Grey acquired the Second Doctor, Ben Jackson, Jamie McCrimmon and Colin McLaren from Lt. Algernon Ffinch, then handed them over to Trask for transporting, except the Doctor, who escaped. After the Doctor freed the prisoners, he had Ffinch arrest Grey for slave trading. Appearance
