The Astran Affair (short story)
The Astran Affair was a TV Century 21 short story. It was framed as Battle Breakdown "phase two", the second part of three unrelated pieces printed in TV21 Annual 1970, each focusing on a different conflict. The first was a real world feature while the third was a Project SWORD story.
Although a work of fiction in its own right, The Astran Affair was largely an adaptation of the Space War crossover arc from 1965 which had begun in Space Border Battle and concluded with Astra's Final Battle. The titular Astrans had been introduced in The Daleks comic story Duel of the Daleks while their homeworld of Astra was first mentioned in the Doctor Who television story The Rescue.

Story notes[[edit] | [edit source]]
- This story added new details to some aspects of the Space War while heavily condensing others. For example, the part of the crossover event which united Fireball XL5 with Stingray is reduced to just a single sentence. The leads of the latter series, Troy Tempest and Phones Sheridan, are not named and it is merely stated that "the World Space Patrol and World Aquanaut Security Patrol joined forces in the biggest man-hunt ever".
