Lugosti

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

Count Lugosti was the underworld's most skilled gunman in the 21st century, who always did business throughout agents and intermediaries to stay legally in the clear. He was also an inveterate gambler (with particular skill at the game Century), but only played at private parties, never in public casinos.

Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]

In 2065, Lugosti was hired (COMIC: On the Trail of the Kaplan's Killer...) to carry out the assassination of the 610th Kaplan of Astra, who had come to Unity City to sign a peace treaty with the President of Earth that was to bring an end to the Space War. He shot the Kaplan with a rifle. (COMIC: Assassination!) Forced to stay in town, he decided to hide in a crowd by spending his time at a casino.

There, he was found by Penelope Creighton-Ward and Parker, who decided to trick him into revealing himself by winning a game against him. As Penelope had expected, the Count followed her outside and into an alleyway, intending to take back his money at gunpoint. Using truth drug, Penelope was able to extract a confession from him and then left him tied to a lamppost for Colonel Zodiac and Commander Zero to find. (COMIC: On the Trail of the Kaplan's Killer...)

Shortly after the two took formal custody of him, however, their hovercar was rammed by another, driven by an agent of the same people who'd hired Lugosti for the assassination. They succeeded in knocking out Zodiac and Zero and getting Lugosti back. However, they then told an uncomprehending Lugosti that they had no further no need of him, now that he was known to the police; they had tracked him down because he was now a potential security leak, not for his own benefit. Consequently, Lugosti's "rescuer" fatally shot him in the stomach with an energy weapon. (COMIC: Zodiac Makes An Arrest)
