Thanks for your recent edits! I'm Jimbo, your robot wiki representative! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is actually a great time to have joined, because we're now fully independent, and working on a host of new features!

We've got a couple of important quirks for a fan written wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.

British English, please

We generally use British English 'round these parts, so if you use another form of English, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.

Spoilers aren't cool

We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.

Other useful stuff

Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:

If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! —  you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:

Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:

Thanks for becoming a member of the TARDIS crew! If you have any questions, see the Help pages, add a question to one of the Forums or ask an admin.

Your welcome. And, to do it, just type: [[Category:Category name]] ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk)☆ 18:45, April 17, 2010 (UTC)

i think we really do need a admin or someone high up, something has got to block those spammers indefinately

One has been contacted. Also, please sign comments with ~~~~ ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk)☆ 06:29, May 9, 2010 (UTC)

ok, sorry, please tell me when all of this is over and that all of those articles are deletedSclera1 06:36, May 9, 2010 (UTC)

Sure. I have even tried contacting the people even higher up than admins, the Wikia staff to see if any of them are able to help out. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk)☆ 06:38, May 9, 2010 (UTC)

Excuse me, Callum, I'm just trying to show the love of my life how much I care. Doginahat 06:43, May 9, 2010 (UTC)

please don't be rude guise this is a family oriented site Cumbucket 06:45, May 9, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, and please do not vandalize. This is a Doctor Who wiki. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk)☆ 06:48, May 9, 2010 (UTC)

Reply to User:Solar Dragon

You're right, but unfortunately anger like this builds up after you are undoing all the vandalism he's done for 4 hours or so then to be humiliated on one of the biggest Wikia's in the world.

Thanks you for reminding me gently but sternly,

Aldurnamiyanrandvora 06:50, May 9, 2010 (UTC)

P.S. I'm going away from my computer to cool off, so I won't be able to stop him, so good luck

P.P.S. In my defense, he had been making personal attacks of a far greater extent and degree

Yes, I understand that but you just have to be careful. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk)☆ 06:53, May 9, 2010 (UTC)

ok

okey dokey, its just he really annoyed me and i think his computer should br broken in half for vandalising.

-Thehumondalek Speak to the Dalek! 07:14, May 9, 2010 (UTC)

im sorry to see you go, you were a good contributer Sclera1 00:57, May 21, 2010 (UTC)

I'm just annoyed by much of the community here. Especially that admin. He didn't just ignore me twice, he even removed one of my comments I left on his talk page. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk)☆ 06:13, May 21, 2010 (UTC)

Wait

hey, before you go, sory but maybe Tangerine didn't mean to ignore you, it is a busy job being an admin (let alone a big wiki such as this one) maybe you might just need some rest and relaxation for a while (especially after that huge event), i hope you can rest and maybe come back if you want to =) Sclera1 11:17, May 21, 2010 (UTC)

I might come back in little bits but that will only be to update the new episodes. I bet he did. He just removed my comment and ignored me. I know how it is like to be an admin. I am one myself on other wikis and I make it a priority to respond to everyone who leaves me a message. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk)☆ 12:05, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
I didn't mean to ignore you or delete your comments. I removed your comments pertaining to the vandalism issues as I didn't want the user's user name plastered all over my user page. So I apologise for removing that comment, I was busy acting on the vandalism issue. --Tangerineduel 12:36, May 21, 2010 (UTC)

#You didn't even respond to me at all about it.

  1. I asked for rollback rights too, ignored.
The only way I will stick around is if you give me the rollback rights I requested. I think I deserve them. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk)☆ 12:37, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
I acted on your message concerning the vandalism. I'm sorry if you were waiting for a response to that (I had several messages and reports left, I generally usually act on them to try and keep vandalism minimum). I will however consider in the future acknowledging reports of vandalism left for me by users.
I'm not quite sure what you mean by that you "deserve" the user rights.
I'm ready to consider any user rights of users, but I think that people should want to stick around here to help out (whatever the user rights level) rather than being persuaded through certain levels of user rights. Looking at your edits they all appear to be to the post-2005 series/Torchood, I'm somewhat concerned that should you have rollback or other user rights levels that you might unknowingly rollback legitimate edits. I am also somewhat concerned at the rather rash comment left on your user page and edit comments such as "According to stupid people on this wiki...", as Sclera1 said this is a large (and active) wiki, there will be discussions and disagreements, in the case of the Cracks/Time Field discussion I would have suggested continuing the discussion on the forums to get further clarification on the subject away from the Time Field page. I do hope you understand my concerns regarding your request, once more I'm sorry it took me some time to get back to you. --Tangerineduel 13:06, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
I know some of my comments were harsh. I was in a bad mood when I stated them. I had a terrible day yesterday so, I am sorry if I offended anyone with those comments. I was rather rude to you, and I am sorry again. I am thinking a bit more clearly now anyway. We should really have a page to request rollback/admin/bureaucrat rights too, as many wikis do. Yes, we. I may stick around after all. And, I am sorry if I offended you or any one else. You are a great contributor after all. I mean, over 40000 edits! That is amazing. And, yes my knowledge of the past series isn't great but I do not revert edits that may be correct without asking on the talk pages first. I am very skilled with the rights, I am an admin on Wikisimpsons and many other wikis, and I am not asking you to give them to me now, only if you feel I should have them, but I won't misuse them. Once again, sorry. When I am in a bad mood, it really shows. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk)☆ 13:15, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
We could have a page for a request for admin/roll back rights. I say could only because generally most admin requests fall into two categories those who want them to so they can block people or those who want them so they can delete articles.
If you are curious there is this page Tardis:User rights (an attempt a while ago to set up a request page).
As to my edits, I've been around here a while and I've done numerous mind-numbing edits while here (I think I've gone through every major story article more than once). I have a fairly thick skin regarding this wiki, so no worries about offending me. I would suggest not editing here if in a bad mood though (as with everything on a wikia/wikipedia it's all on record and all in the history), I often just close the all the tabs I've got open and leave until I cool down. Thanks --Tangerineduel 13:31, May 21, 2010 (UTC)

Talk pages

They can do whatever they want on their talk pages, delete everything (same goes for their user page, keep it red lined, fill it with random stuff, in-keeping of course with our Tardis:User page policy), it's all in their history. (See also Tardis:Vandalism policy#Altering of personal pages and postings which just covers people editing other user's comments etc). Thanks. --Tangerineduel 13:35, May 21, 2010 (UTC)

I've not seen the star/heart rating used a lot articles in use. I'll look into changing it. (What's wrong with hearts?). --Tangerineduel 14:20, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
Perhaps they'll appeal to elements of the our community and inspire them to become more involved?
As far as ill-thought out ideas of wikia this one is somewhat minor. I'll wait an see though, it seems a relatively minor thing to go altering things. (I don't really see an issue with them, but I do understand wikia's thinking in needing to differentiate pictographically between the follow star and the rate this article selecting thing.) --Tangerineduel 14:43, May 21, 2010 (UTC)

Vandalism Template

I'm actually going to ask people not to use it for now, just till we can sort out some issues with it, actually there's only one. That is, why when it's used it adds the code rather than the template? --Tangerineduel 11:18, May 22, 2010 (UTC)

Yes definitely fix it so it all works, with a signature and without all the code (or am I asking too much? as I didn't see that exact mix of things on the sandbox). Thanks. --Tangerineduel 11:47, May 22, 2010 (UTC)
Thanks (thought it was something simple like that!). --Tangerineduel 12:48, May 22, 2010 (UTC)
Actually not to ask one more thing (it's not a major thing) but the signature outside of the template..., it doesn't matter that much, just thought I'd ask if it can be within the template box? --Tangerineduel 13:10, May 22, 2010 (UTC)
{{Welcome|(User name)|--~~~~}}.
What I was thinking, though it destroys some of the usefulness of the template is just having {{{1}}} the page that was vandalised something that has to be filled rather than an if and the second {{{2}}} to be the signature. (Which is admittedly a more simplistic way to make it all work, and would force the person placing the template to be a little more aware. But, as I said it's a minor issue, as this is a template that shouldn't be trumped out too often (hopefully). It's not that much of a concern. --Tangerineduel 13:10, May 22, 2010 (UTC)
It looks like it's working, I've tweaked it slightly so 'recent edits' links to the user's contributions page. Though I'm not sure why it's not working for you. Thanks though for working through my requests. --Tangerineduel 13:27, May 22, 2010 (UTC)
I won't but I can't guarantee that no-one else won't edit it. You could create a sub-page of your user page (so you can be sure that it doesn't get edited). I can delete it for you after you get your answers if you want to go down that path. --Tangerineduel 15:29, May 22, 2010 (UTC)

Welcome template

I do know about the auto-welcome adding thing. It was switched on for a little while, it seemed to add the code of a template rather than the template itself. I've been playing around with it off an on and have been working through it. (Aesthetics and how things work within the wiki are important to me, if something gets added, but when a new user goes to use it and it looks...complicated with a lot of coding present or whatever it can be a little intimidating.) I'd rather encourage people to edit and be involved than confront them with a lot of code on their talk pages or explain to them mistakes / why whatever is a mistake. Sorry a little bit of a ramble there. --Tangerineduel 11:55, May 23, 2010 (UTC)

Series 5 Page Edit

Hi Solar, you seem to be a regular contributer to this Wikia, and a name that pops up a lot. Can I ask you to make an edit on the series 5 page? (I Would've used the talk page usually but it's already full, and the mistake is bugging me ;-) ) Anyway, the series 5 article says, in the that 'Broadcast dates' section, that the series will be delayed a week around Eurovision, then gives a totally unrelated source (Wondercon news from gallifrey newsbase). The thing is gallifrey newsbase itself has stated in more recent news that there will be no gap, and that the only effect of Eurovsion will be the start time going back by an hour. Could you sort it out? Thanks and sorry to bother you with this ;-)80.0.211.162 02:45, May 25, 2010 (UTC)

My bot

I know my Bot is swamping the system. It's not like I've not tried to get a bot flag. I've tried from my first day of using it. Wikia Central have told me that that the request for a bot flag must come from an admin. I've asked Tangerineduel for this, but he hasn't acted upon the request. Mind you, he's not opposed to the use of the bot, but he does want to see what it does. There's also an ongoing vote on the issue at Forum:Bot flag request, but no one seems to be bothered enough to really vote there. So we're kinda stuck with it flying flag-less. All I can do is apologize for the clutter in your "recently changed" list. CzechOut | 15:56, May 29, 2010 (UTC)

I've replied on CzechOut's talk page. But thought I'd drop a note here, yes CzechOut did leave me a message and I likely wasn't on the site, then got the 'you've received a message' and checked it and had several on my talk page and didn't get up to his note. As (initially) it was a login issue (which resolved itself) I didn't think on it for a while. I have just sent off a message to wikia central requesting a bot flag. --Tangerineduel 16:06, May 29, 2010 (UTC)
Oh, it looks like Tangerineduel has today made a request of Central to flag my bot. So hopefully it won't be cluttering up your feed for too much longer. Though, I'm afraid you're in for quite a bit more today, unfortunately. CzechOut | 16:07, May 29, 2010 (UTC)
OK, good. All I can see is your bot's edits, but not for long. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 16:41, May 29, 2010 (UTC)
For now you could select 'hide minor edits' (not a perfect solution I know). --Tangerineduel 17:02, May 29, 2010 (UTC)

Vandalism of Template:!

Hi, User:ThePandoricaOpens has just vandalized Template:!, leading to display problems on many pages. Could you please (semi-)protect that template so this doesn't happen again? Thanks :) —ff 10:58, May 31, 2010 (UTC)

Umm, I would but I am not an admin. Try User:Tangerineduel. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 11:10, May 31, 2010 (UTC)
Oh, okay, sorry to bother you then… I've copied the message to his discussion page :) —ff 11:29, May 31, 2010 (UTC)
That's fine. I don't mind. I am used to being bothered as I am an admin on a lot of wikis, just not this one. Added a note to his talk page that I feel it should be fully protected. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 11:30, May 31, 2010 (UTC)

Human and File amy

The image which i currently on the human article containing sarah jane is a really bad picture The mysterious 12:27, May 31, 2010 (UTC)

Alright find another image that image of sarah jane is a promotional image as well as she has a gun to be honest that is a really bad image to reprsent a image The mysterious 12:38, May 31, 2010 (UTC)

Oh no you got it wrong, i tried to upload an image i had but then it came up with this image for some reason because on the Amy Pond article it had two of the same images i tried to change it but i think something is wrong with my system The mysterious 17:14, May 31, 2010 (UTC)

Archiving of talk pages

Out of curiosity was there a reason my talk page was needed to be singled out on a forum discussion page? I do manage my talk page (the only edits in the history of my talk page are me deleting bits of it). All the rest are things that are still of concern to me.

If you had issue with the contents of my talk page (or indeed any user's user or talk page) I'd much have preferred you discuss it on my talk page rather than put it up for discussion on the forums. Thanks. --Tangerineduel 10:58, June 3, 2010 (UTC)

Righty. (I admit I was somewhat perturbed by it), I do try to keep it clear, but recently there's been several messages I want to keep on there to remind me to sort certain things out. If it were tucked away in an archive I'd never look at it. --Tangerineduel 11:17, June 3, 2010 (UTC)
I was/am just in the middle of looking into things related to that. Just a small side note/vaguely related thing (because I was looking through your contributions list) your addition of Cat:Astronomical objects to Cold star, needn't have been added because Ca:Stars is already a sub-category of astronomical objects. The same often goes for articles that go within Cat:Humans, Planets, Individuals they've all got substantial sub-categories that means articles needn't reside within the main top category. --Tangerineduel 11:31, June 3, 2010 (UTC)
You now have rollback rights. Thanks. --Tangerineduel 11:37, June 3, 2010 (UTC)

Apologize

I checked my recent activity, and was shocked to find THE talk page gone. I was trying to leave a message, and something must have gone wrong. I apologize for my carelessness. The Captain Tornado 14:30, June 3, 2010 (UTC)
