Scholars of the University of Rago Rago 56 Rago
The Scholars of the University of Rago Rago 56 Rago were four scholars from the university of Rago Rago 56 Rago.
They wore white robes. Two of them had faces of golden metal while the other two had faces that resembled tree stumps, made from wicker.
They visited Platform One at the end of the world in the year 5,000,000,000, as a result of their twenty-seven A++ scores in Class 55 at the University. However, due to Lady Cassandra O'Brien's sabotage of the space station, one of the wicker-faced scholars died from the heat of the Earth's destruction. The surviving wicker-faced scholar lay despondent with one of the Ambassadors from the City State of Binding Light, comforted by one of the golden-faced scholars, while the other one mourned the death of the Moxx of Balhoon. The Scholars, along with the other survivors of Platform One, were later kidnapped by the Elth of Balhoon, who believed that they hadn't tried to help the Moxx of Balhoon and had abandoned him to die. They were rescued by the Tenth Doctor, and not only forgave the Elth for kidnapping them, they offered to help him. (COMIC: Reunion of Fear)
A Scholar was also present in the Shadow Proclamation after the Tenth Doctor was put on trial by Lau'Tan, the Shadow Architect and The Advocate. (COMIC: Fugitive)
Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]
- In Doctor Who: The Writer's Tale, Russell T Davies states that the wicker Scholars are actually part of the Sisterhood of the Wicker Place Mat. However, the reference book Doctor Who: Monsters and Villains states that they are Scholars.
- Russell T Davies' original concept for the Shadow Proclamation scene in The Stolen Earth included an appearance by members of the same species of the Scholars, but his plans to feature a "rogues' gallery" of alien races in the scene fell through; ultimately the Judoon were the only returning race featured.
