Wenley Hospital, (TV: Doctor Who and the Silurians [+]Loading...["Doctor Who and the Silurians (TV story)"]) Wenley Cottage Hospital, (PROSE: The Secret Lives of Monsters [+]Loading...["The Secret Lives of Monsters (novel)"]) or St Mary's Cottage Hospital, (PROSE: Doctor Who and the Cave-Monsters [+]Loading...["Doctor Who and the Cave-Monsters (novelisation)"]) was a general hospital near Wenley Moor.

History[[edit] | [edit source]]

The Third Doctor first visited the hospital when he was investigating a mysterious threat facing the inhabitants of the moor. There he examined Doris Squire, the wife of a local farmer. She had been admitted for shock following her husband's death. The Doctor drew a simple representation of a Silurian, and judged her fearful reaction to be positive identification of a Silurian menace.

Later, as the threat grew, Wenley Hospital began to receive patients who had become infected with the Silurian virus. Chief amongst these patients was Major Baker, head of security at the Wenley Moor nuclear research facility. To prevent the outbreak of an epidemic, UNIT put the entire hospital under strict quarantine, while the Doctor and Liz Shaw raced to successfully develop an antidote to the virus. Sadly, they were not able to do so before Baker died.

A known member of staff was Dr. Meredith. Also known to work there were the doctor and nurse who treated Baker. The Brigadier was forced to stop them at gunpoint from leaving the facility in order to enforce the quarantine. Nonetheless, they, too, contracted the plague — along with the ambulance driver who had brought Baker to the hospital.
