Plot[[edit] | [edit source]]

As Ruth and Jack are busy, Benny is sent by Irving to investigate an amateur theatre production which he believes to be a front for a smuggling operation. She is perplexed by Danny Crosby's show, which causes the audience to march, present memorabilia and salute to a shapeshifting actor who takes the form of a military man and admonishes them.

The crowd are united until Danny turns the lights on, who thanks them for taking part in Honour Us and celebrating their deceased love ones. Twenty-two holograms of Kay, under Danny's control, thank everybody and direct them to the exit and Danny explains that the shape-shifter is also a hologram. Benny finds the show exploitative and realises that its true purpose is to stir up emotion to get members of the audience to join militias who pay Danny. She leaves to find Irving, wondering what he will make of what Danny has been doing.
