Cancelling was the act of ending a service, action or relation.
When the Toymaker unleashed the Giggle on the human race causing everyone to think they’re correct, to attract the attention of the Fourteenth Doctor in 2023, he explained this play as "the game of the 21st century", telling the Doctor that people of that time "[they] shout and they type and they cancel", claiming that everyone simultaneously wins and loses.
