Talk:2009 Sontaran invasion of Earth
Prop Delete[[edit source]]
Rationale[[edit source]]
See Talk:Skirmish at Tranquil Repose. This is flatly absurd. This kind of article needs to be rooted out of this wiki. Except in very rare cases articles should not be created for events or things that have no names. Battles in particular do not deserve their own names/pages unless the name is given in a primary source. CzechOut ☎ | ✍ 07:04, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Against Deletion[[edit source]]
- The evil dude - Jeez, not another one. Since this event actually happened, it deserves an article. Sure, thats not its official name, but it was an invasion, not a pace truce.
- Tangerineduel 17:28, 1 August 2008 (UTC) True, not it's actual name. But the article is well written and it happened.
Decision[[edit source]]
Prop delete has been removed. Discussion on the name can continue without the prop delete tag. --Tangerineduel 15:28, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
- Shouldn't it be "Sontaran Invasion of Earth" (capital I in invasion) Jack's the man - 14:05, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Naming[[edit source]]
As said before in 2008, Invasion should probably be capitalised. As well as this, the year should be added given there have since been more invasions of Earth. StevieGLiverpool ☎ 00:16, 4 June 2022 (UTC)
- Edit: Actually do we capitalise invasion? I always thought it looked nicer but I realise now it's not commonplace. Disregard that. StevieGLiverpool ☎ 00:17, 4 June 2022 (UTC)
- I also have contention with "2009" as various DWU sources are ambiguous as to whether series 4 is 2008 (The Fires of Pompeii, The Waters of Mars, SOS) or 2009 (Beautiful Chaos). Which isn't just a one-off error, or one that's consistently "fixed" in future examples as SOS is from 2022. Maybe ATMOS gas crisis or ATMOS Stratagem, which are alternative names given in the lead. -- Tybort (talk page) 13:30, 31 July 2023 (UTC)

- Sontaran Stratagem is also a pretty clear (if possibly self-referential) name given by For the Girl Who Has Everything. -- Tybort (talk page) 21:26, 24 December 2023 (UTC)
- Considering series four itself dates the Stratagem to 2008, I don't see too much harm in naming it 2008 Sontaran invasion of Earth; after all, Susan Foreman isn't named Foreman in all accounts or the Tenth Doctor isn't always the tenth incarnation, but as most sources agree on something we can use that info in page names.
- That being said, there are fewer sources at play here, and I think the proposed names are better (even if it means this page won't be consistent with 2001 Sontaran invasion of Earth and 2021 Sontaran invasion of Earth) and my vote goes to Sontaran Stratagem, as the names for events that match the name of the relevant story are much more intuitive and easy to remember — a la genesis of the Daleks. 21:48, 24 December 2023 (UTC)
- I agree with Epsilon. — Fractal • 11:27, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
- Based on this I'll change the rename to Sontaran Stratagem, just so it's clearer for when the rename goes ahead. --Tangerineduel / talk 14:08, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
