When Group Marshal Nathan of the Tenth Sontaran Battle Brigade managed to enter the Doctor's TARDIS with a subordinate and a vitrox bomb, they were forced back to the TARDIS control room by the Sixth Doctor and his companions deactivating the power supply needed to power the bomb. Upon entering the control room, the Sontarans found a young Gareth Jenkins among the saboteurs, with Nathan recognising his name as belonging to that of the leader of the Earth Defence Force who thwarted the Sontarans' 2001 invasion. Despite the Doctor trying to wave off the names as just being a coincidence, Nathan was adamant on killing Gareth to prevent him from thwarting their invasion in his future. However, Gareth and the Doctor had prepared a trap to kill the Sontarans with some deadly gas, and Gareth's live was saved. (HOMEVID: A Fix with Sontarans)
