Since 1999, BBC Audio — and, after taking it over, AudioGO — have released multiple missing Doctor Who stories on CD as TV soundtracks. They used linking narration from a member of the original cast to provide information in the scenes with no dialogue. Since then, all of the missing or partially missing stories have been released on CD, as well as some existing stories featuring the Third, Fourth and Fifth Doctors. Since 2004, each release has included a bonus interview with the narrator.

From 16 November 2023, BBC Sounds would host the audio soundtracks of missing episodes remastered by Mark Ayres in a dedicated collection called The Missing Episodes.
