TARDIS control room (An Unearthly Child)

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

From the First Doctor through to the Third, the Doctor's TARDIS console room retained a relatively consistent look, although its specifics changed often.

Appearance

When the interior of the TARDIS used by the First Doctor was first seen by Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright, it was a bright white room, with roundels on the walls and a large computer bank taking up a major part of the "back" wall. These computer banks contained the fault locator and various systems relating to navigational control. (TV: An Unearthly Child [+]Loading...["An Unearthly Child (TV story)"], "The Dead Planet" [+]Part of The Daleks, Loading...{"namedep":"The Dead Planet","1":"The Daleks (TV story)"}) One wall consisted of white hexagons with roundels implemented on them. The Doctor was known to store brandy behind one of these roundels. (TV: Twice Upon a Time [+]Loading...["Twice Upon a Time (TV story)"])

This TARDIS often appeared slightly different from one account to another.

Typically, one wall of roundels appeared flat, as if they were printed on, (TV: An Unearthly Child [+]Loading...["An Unearthly Child (TV story)"]) but another instance showed a separate octagonal wall in the place of this. (TV: Twice Upon a Time [+]Loading...["Twice Upon a Time (TV story)"])

Usually, the front doors were bulky, featuring triangular points near the hinges, (TV: An Unearthly Child [+]Loading...["An Unearthly Child (TV story)"], et. al) but this was not universal.

On one occasion, the doors resembled those of a lift, (COMIC: The Klepton Parasites [+]Loading...["The Klepton Parasites (comic story)"]) while on another, they were flat and simplistic with three roundels on each side. On this occasion, the doors were golden and the walls were velvet, while the console was orange. During the Sontarans incident

During the Second Doctor's encounter with the Sixth Doctor, the control room looked distinctly different: it appeared similar to the grey interior and console later used by the Fourth Doctor but as large as the one used by the Fifth and with an additional teleport control on it. (TVThe Two Doctors [+]Loading...["The Two Doctors (TV story)"])

By some accounts, this was because these events occurred after the Doctor's trial, (PROSE: World Game [+]Loading...["World Game (novel)"], etc.) but others suggested this encounter did indeed slot during the Doctor's original travels with Jamie and Victoria. (PROSEThe Legacy of Gallifrey [+]Loading...["The Legacy of Gallifrey (short story)"], AUDIO: The Black Hole [+]Loading...["The Black Hole (audio story)"]) According to one of those latter accounts, the Second Doctor temporarily synchronised his TARDIS with Gallifrey by linking it to the Stattenheim remote control. It was reflected by the change in its change of appearance. (AUDIO: The Black Hole [+]Loading...["The Black Hole (audio story)"])
