The following is a timeline of Doctor Who trading cards and card games.

1960s[[edit] | [edit source]]

Cadet Sweets manufactured Dr Who and the Daleks sweet cigarettes in 1964. Each sweet cigarette pack came with 1 of 50 trading cards that told the story Doctor Who and the Daleks.

Wall's manufactured Sky Ray ice lollies in 1967. Each ice lolly came with 1 of 36 trading cards that told the short story Daleks Invade Zaos. The story was also printed in Dr Who's Space Adventure Book. The cards could be pasted into the story or be played with the included Space Raiders Battle Game.

In 1975, Weetabix released a trading cards series called Doctor Who And His Enemies. Weetabix released a second trading cards series in 1977 called the Weetabix Doctor Who Action Game. Both series featured 24 cards that could be used as stand-up tokens for the accompanying game.

Cadbury's TyPhoo Tea included a series of 12 trading cards as a tie-in with The Amazing World of Doctor Who in 1976.

Jotastar released the Doctor Who Trump Card Game in 1978. The 40 cards covered Doctor Who heroes and aliens. The hero cards included historical and fictional characters who had never been featured in Doctor Who stories.

CCC Ltd. released a series of 20 cards in 1993 for the 30th anniversary of Doctor Who. A promotional variant of the cards was included in DWM 208.

Cornerstone Communications released four series of Doctor Who Trading Cards from 1994 to 1996. The base sets for the first three series included 110 cards while Series 4 had only 90 cards.

MMG Ltd released Doctor Who: The Collectible Trading Card Game in 1996. The main set included 301 cards; 1 promotional card was released.

The Doctor Who website had two Top Trumps-style video games. Alien Fact File was released with the site's launch in 1998 and included 32 cards. The game Who Trumps followed in 2002.

Strictly Ink released a number of Doctor Who trading card series from 2001 to 2008. This included a series for the 40th anniversary of Doctor Who. Promo cards were included with DWM 298 and DWM 299.

Winning Moves UK Ltd. released 10 packs of Top Trumps from 2006 to 2019. They also released a number of special packs including the Top Trumps Collectors Edition: 45 Years of Time Travel for the 45th anniversary of Doctor Who, tie-in books, and a video game.

GE Fabbri Ltd published the Doctor Who: Battles in Time magazine and trading cards from 2006 to 2009. They also published cards for Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures.

Mattel released Doctor Who Uno in 2007. The cards featured Doctor Who characters and came in a Dalek case.

Panini Comics released Alien Armies in 2009. This short-lived series included 260 cards.

BBC Magazines released the Doctor Who: Monster Invasion‎ magazine and trading cards from 2011 to 2013.

Cubicle Seven released Doctor Who: The Card Game in 2012. An expansion featuring the Twelfth Doctor and Doctor Who: The Card Game – Classic Doctor Edition were released in 2016.

Topps Europe released Topps Alien Attax in 2013. This short-lived series included 240 cards in the first wave. A second wave the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who included 160 cards.

Topps released the Commemorative 50th Anniversary Cards in 2013 with a limited edition DVD/Blu-ray release of The Day of the Doctor in the US.

Topps USA released a number of trading card series from 2015 to 2017. These were Doctor Who Trading Cards (2015), Doctor Who: Timeless (2016), Doctor Who: Extraterrestrial Encounters (2016), Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor Adventures Widevision (2016), and Doctor Who: Signature Series (2017). A special card featuring the Thirteenth Doctor in her costume from Meet the Thirteenth Doctor was released in 2017.

Looney Labs released the card game Doctor Who Fluxx in 2017. A Thirteenth Doctor expansion pack was released in 2019.

Reality+ launched the digital trading card game Worlds Apart in 2021. The cards were hosted and traded through blockchain technology.

Rittenhouse Archives released two series of trading cards. Series 11-12 Trading Cards were released in 2022 and Series 1-4 Trading Cards were released in 2023.

Wizards of the Coast released the Magic: The Gathering tie-in Universes Beyond: Doctor Who in 2023 for the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who. Four commander decks were released: Blast from the Past (Classic Doctors), Timey-Wimey (Ninth, Tenth, Eleventh Doctors), Paradox Power (Twelfth and Thirteenth Doctor), and Masters of Evil (Villains).
