Continuity
- The Doctor's TARDIS is still that of the Victorian parlour, using the same sounds it made during Doctor Who [+]Loading...["Doctor Who (TV story)"] and other early adventures.
- The Priest works for The Church, of whom the Eighth Doctor has heard. The Eleventh Doctor also met The Church, once during the Crash of the Byzantium in The Time of Angels [+]Loading...["The Time of Angels (TV story)"] and later in The Time of the Doctor [+]Loading...["The Time of the Doctor (TV story)"], where they are known as The Church of the Papal Mainframe. The Eleventh Doctor first met the Silence who were actually an evil spin-off sect of The Church, set on kidnapping the daughter of Amy Pond and Rory Williams, in order to turn her into the Doctor's assassin, as seen in A Good Man Goes to War [+]Loading...["A Good Man Goes to War (TV story)"] and The Impossible Astronaut [+]Loading...["The Impossible Astronaut (TV story)"].
- The Doctor notes that a meeting with the Priest not only makes you forget your sins, but makes you feel less guilty and enables you to take the action needed had the guilt not held you back. The end of this adventure sees this Doctor understanding what has to be done, likely leading him towards his regeneration in The Night of the Doctor [+]Loading...["The Night of the Doctor (TV story)"].
- The Eighth Doctor has recently given up picking up the pieces of the Time War, with his recent adventures being Lies in Ruins [+]Loading...["Lies in Ruins (audio story)"] and The Shoreditch Intervention [+]Loading...["The Shoreditch Intervention (audio story)"]. This also echoes the Eighth Doctor's own words of "[not being] part of the War" as spoken to Cass Fermazzi in The Night of the Doctor [+]Loading...["The Night of the Doctor (TV story)"].
