Great New Sugar Puffs Contest! was a competition printed in Lady Penelope and TV Century 21. Organised by Quaker Oats Ltd., the makers of Sugar Puffs, it heavily concerned the Daleks and tied-in to the product's sponsorship of the film Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D..

The competition was started in LP 34 where the rules and prizes were outlined, marking the only appearance of the Daleks in TV21's sister magazine. It also appeared in TV21 88 two weeks later, with the feature constituting the sole appearance of the Robomen in either publication. As these publications served only as a vehicle for Sugar Puffs' contest, it also marked the first time that relatives and friends of AP Films, City Magazines and TV21 were allowed to participate in a competition appearing in the magazine. Interestingly, the piece referred to the Dalek claw manipulator as a "Human Detector".

For a chance of winning, readers had to read a list of thirteen qualities for fighting Daleks which was printed on the page and then pick the six they thought were most useful, putting them in order of importance. In case of tie-breaks, they also had to complete the sentence "I think Sugar Puffs would help me fight the Daleks because..." in ten words or less. There was no limit to the number of entries allowed per person but each had to be different and each entry form had to be be accompanied by two guarantee panels from Sugar Puffs packs. The closing date was 28 February 1967. It was stated that the prizes would be awarded to the entries which "contained the best solution and whose slogans in the opinions of the judges [were] considered most apt".

The three top winners were each rewarded with a life-size Dalek actually used in Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D., making this competition a successor to The Greatest Dalek Competition of All Time! which gave away Daleks from the previous Cushing-led film Dr. Who and the Daleks. Five hundred runners-up were each rewarded with a battery-operated toy model Dalek manufactured by Louis Marx Ltd. It does not appear as if the names of the winners were printed in TV21 nor Lady Penelope, though one of the winners of the Daleks is known to have been ten year old John Streeter, who was presented with his prize at the Astoria Cinema in Brighton.[1]
