Events[[edit] | [edit source]]

On 17 July 1888, a force 12 storm blowing up to ninety knots caused the Elysium to crash on rocks around half a mile from the extremities of the South Coast of England. However, according to a transcript of the newspaper that reported on the crash a day later, published on the North West Historical Society's website in the 2010s, there had been no storm warnings in that sector and that the weather had been recorded as calm. Instead, this transcription mentioned reports of an angelic woman being seen after the crash.
