Donna Noble parks her car exactly where the Tenth Doctor's TARDIS was about to materialise, (TV: Partners in Crime [+]Loading...["Partners in Crime (TV story)"]) due to Donna's timeline being manipulated by Dalek Caan. (TV: Journey's End [+]Loading...["Journey's End (TV story)"])

Donna Noble's personal timeline was subjected to various alterations throughout her life, and, after all of the timelines began converging on her, she became a Complex Space-Time Event.

History[[edit] | [edit source]]

After her wedding to Lance Bennett was interrupted and being saved by the Tenth Doctor from a Roboform, Donna wished that the Tenth Doctor had a time machine (not knowing that was what the TARDIS was) so they could go back in time to do her wedding and do it again, the Doctor told her that, while keeping up the pretence of not having a time machine, that even if he did he would be unable to go back on someone's personal timeline. (TV: The Runaway Bride [+]Loading...["The Runaway Bride (TV story)"])

After Dalek Caan travelled into the Time War without protection, he saw time itself as it raged through his mind, (TV: Journey's End [+]Loading...["Journey's End (TV story)"]) giving him the ability to "observe and understand the various timelines that crossed the universe". He came to reject the New Dalek Empire and wished to undermine it, and began manipulating the timelines of the Doctor and Donna to ensure the Daleks would be defeated. (PROSE: Doctor Who: The Encyclopedia [+]Loading...{"page":"42","ed":"2011 reprint","1":"Doctor Who: The Encyclopedia (reference book)"}) While Donna’s would've still followed the same general course without outside manipulation, Caan nevertheless manipulated it to guarantee she would "be in the right place at the right time". What initially seemed to be a series of "coincidences" involved Donna's first appearance within the Doctor's TARDIS, her grandfather Wilfred Mott meeting the Doctor, and how Donna parked her car exactly where the TARDIS attempted to materialise before she and the Doctor reunited. (TV: Journey's End [+]Loading...["Journey's End (TV story)"])

Caan himself described this process as "draw[ing] together the strands of time into a web of death." (PROSE: Dalek Caan [+]Loading...["Dalek Caan (short story)"]) The convergence of the timelines on Donna resulted in her becoming a complex and unique space-time event. (PROSE: "What will you be?" [+]Part of Companions and Allies, Loading...{"page":"90","namedpart":"What will you be?","1":"Companions and Allies"})

However, before Caan's plans came to fruition, (TV: Journey's End [+]Loading...["Journey's End (TV story)"]) the Time Beetle changed Donna's timeline (PROSE: The Time Traveller's Almanac [+]Loading...{"chaptname":"Everything Changes","page":"132","chaptnum":"3","1":"The Time Traveller's Almanac (reference book)"}, The Visual Dictionary: Updated and Expanded [+]Loading...{"page":"41","1":"The Visual Dictionary: Updated and Expanded (reference book)"}) to feed off the time energy caused by the disruption. (PROSE: The Time Traveller's Almanac [+]Loading...{"chaptname":"Everything Changes","page":"132","chaptnum":"3","1":"The Time Traveller's Almanac (reference book)"}) This created a parallel world where she never met the Tenth Doctor, resulting in his death. This parallel world was reverted when Donna travelled back in time and sacrificed herself to avert its creation; the Donna in the repaired universe was still able to remember the events of this world to some extent. (TV: Turn Left [+]Loading...["Turn Left (TV story)"], Journey's End [+]Loading...["Journey's End (TV story)"])

Indeed, in this parallel world, Rose Tyler (who had travelled to it from another) was familiar enough with the Time Beetle to explain how it "[fed] off time, by changing time." (TV: Turn Left [+]Loading...["Turn Left (TV story)"]) Rose found that the Dimension Cannon could measure timelines, discovering they were all converging on Donna. (TV: Journey's End [+]Loading...["Journey's End (TV story)"])

During the Planetary Relocation Incident (PROSE: Dalek Combat Training Manual [+]Loading...["Dalek Combat Training Manual (reference book)"]) Rose told Donna about her discovery, and, later on, the Doctor found identity of the secret manipulator: Dalek Caan. Caan secretly wanted to undermine the New Dalek Empire after seeing the destruction they wrought, and his manipulations soon culminated in the Daleks' defeat by the Doctor, the Children of Time, the Meta-Crisis Doctor and the DoctorDonna.
