- When the Nemesis passed over Earth in 1888, it was possible that the Paternoster Gang stopped whatever crisis it precipitated.
- The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn grew in popularity in the 1890s.
- Arthur Machen's Great God Pan may have been inspired by an encounter with Daemons.
- Lord Dunsany may have been inspired by the Gods of Ragnarok.
- Robert E. Chamber's The King in Yellow may be connected to a factual preternatural being and a real Yellow Sign.
- Events similar to those described in The War of the Worlds may have actually happened, and were stopped by the Paternoster Gang.
