Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

Gangsters was a BBC TV series starring Maurice Colbourne that ran for two seasons after a successful pilot in Play for Today. It was written by Philip Martin and depicted the life of an ex-SAS operative who is forced to go undercover in the criminal underworld. Various Doctor Who actors appeared in it, including Christopher Benjamin and John Abineri. Kenneth Ives and Viktors Ritelis were among the directors. Martin got the job writing for Doctor Who because Eric Saward was a fan of the series.[source needed]
