The Grimminy-Grew , or simply "the Grew", was a thought-form creature that fell to earth in a meteoroid during the construction of an underground train station during the 1800s. He remained in the station and trapped people by removing them from normal time. The Grew targeted people who were unable to reach critical decisions in their lives, taunting them by speaking in rhyme and hunting them until they lost hope, at which point they would slowly become part of the space of his world, losing their memories and eventually forgetting their own names. Once they were part of the Grew's world, they were unable to see anyone else who was trapped, only repeating the phrase, "It doesn't matter what you do, you can't escape the Grimminy-Grew". It trapped Saffron Windrose and the Ninth Doctor during the early 2000's. The Doctor and Saffron were able to find the other victims of the Grew and release them from his power. The Doctor realised that the Grew was the child of an older enemy of the Time Lords and challenged it to a thought battle where each had to guess the other's true name. The Doctor was able to guess correctly, banishing the Grew from the universe and returning all of his victims to their proper times. (AUDIO: Station to Station)
