Crying was a discharge of tears brought upon by moments of intense emotions.

After the 2150s Dalek invasion of Earth was thwarted, Susan Foreman cried as she debated whether staying with the First Doctor or David Campbell. (TV: The Dalek Invasion of Earth)

Rose Tyler cried after the Ninth Doctor regenerated, feeling abandoned. (TV: The Christmas Invasion)
