Cosmic science or cosmic theory was a degree taken by the Time Lords. The Time Lord messenger once pointed out to the Third Doctor that the Master's degree was of a higher class than the Doctor's. (TV: Terror of the Autons) The Scrolls of Gallifrey described the young Master as a gifted "cosmic theoretician". (PROSE: The Legacy of Gallifrey)
