Cilla Black was a singer in the 20th century.

Biography

Cilla Black was from the northwest of England. (TV: The Devil's Chord [+]Loading...["The Devil's Chord (TV story)"]) On 11 February 1963, the Fifteenth Doctor and Ruby Sunday watched her record her first single at EMI Studios. Due to Maestro having stolen all music from the world, her singing was poor. After Maestro's defeat and banishment, Cilla participated in the singing of "Twist at the End". On the 12th of November, 1969, a newborn Paul Magrs dreamt of a party hosted by Dr Oho, which Cilla Black attended. In this dream, she and Lulu sung "Step Inside Love". (PROSE: In the Sixties [+]Loading...["In the Sixties (short story)"])

Both Iris Wildthyme and Tom were fans of her songs, (PROSE: Preface [+]Loading...["Preface (short story)"]) as was David Taylor. (PROSE: Shada [+]Loading...["Shada (novelisation)"])

Behind the scenes

  • As the presenter of the show, Black appeared as herself in the Surprise Surprise! special.
  • She also featured as a character in one Nix View story.
  • She was played by Sheridan Smith in the 2014 miniseries Cilla.
  • A cut scene from The Devil's Chord - present within the script draft released on the BBC Writer's Room Script Library - would've featured Cilla helping to shut Maestro inside the piano before lamenting that "It’s mad here in London" and that she was "going home to Bobby,". This implicit reference to Bobby Willis - alongside a further cut remark to the two Beatles & the lyrics of There's Always A Twist At The End - would suggest that the in-universe Cilla was also from Liverpool.
